What is normal hearing? Hearing yourself chew.
It can certainly take some time to get use to having hearing aids. Not only are things around you amplified, but so are the sounds inside of your head like chewing and swallowing. Depending on your hearing loss, how the hearing aids are programmed, and which domes or custom ear molds you have on the ends of the hearing aids , it may take some time to get use to hearing your voice again. One thing to remember is that the more you wear your hearing aids, the more normal your own voice will become. It's easy to forget just how loud your voice can be but hearing it helps you monitor the quality, level and production of speech. A patient's son reminded me of this commercial from the ear 2000's that really shows how loud (and normal) eating crunch cereal can be!
